About

Established in 1884 during the Victorian era’s funerary boom, Chingford Mount Cemetery offers a peaceful retreat where history, architecture, and nature converge. Set against the backdrop of Epping Forest, it serves a sister cemetery to Abney Park Cemetery.

The cemetery is perhaps best known as the final resting place of notorious East End gangsters Ronnie and Reggie Kray, who are buried here alongside other members of their family. Among its more artistically significant residents is John Bacon, the British sculptor known for his neoclassical works. And more recently, actor Leslie Phillips—famous for his roles in the Carry On films and as the voice of the Sorting Hat in Harry Potter—was also buried here.
